Trauma & Practice
This workshop focuses on developing holistic understandings of trauma and healing. We discuss connections between trauma, oppression, and health, and strategies for trauma-informed practice. This workshop is geared towards people who work with people, including all health and allied health professionals.
Beyond Competence: Trans-Centered Healthcare
This workshop provides an approach to healthcare that centers and celebrates trans people and experiences. We discuss how to talk about bodies in a trans- and intersex-affirming way, explore gender dysphoria and gender euphoria, and foster a better understanding of how to work with all people and bodies utilizing non-binary, non-linear, and non-medical understandings of gender. This workshop is geared towards clinicians and service providers working in health and social services.
“Rowen created a warm and supportive space for us to begin exploring the implications of adversity and trauma. They presented a complicated topic with nuance and humility, making the content easily accessible and applicable. I appreciated their softness and aptly timed humour as they translated theory into a set of practicals which I can take into both my everyday and professional lives.”
Jesse (they/them, psychotherapy student in spiritual care)
“This was a useful, accessible workshop that provided a lot of fundamentals for trauma-informed practices both within and beyond the mental health sector! I would recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to understand how to support clients, colleagues, collaborators, and other professional relationships while recognizing the systemic factors that contribute to trauma.”
